Believe in Discovery

April 27, 2008

Since this was the last week before turning three, we decided to take Joe up to Seaworld for a day of family fun. The day was filled with the excitement of seeing dolphins, whales, sharks, and other sea creatures ... and both Joe and Owen soaked it all in.

We started with the Sea Lion show and the Dolphin nursery, then moved through the Penguin exhibit and our first stop at the shark encounter. Then we moved over to the Dolphin cove for the dolphin show before lunch. Our last show was "Believe", the new Orca show. Then before coffee and cookies ... we returned to the shark encounter exhibit. It is funny ... Joe was terrified of the shark displays on the walls and ceiling, but requested to return ... because he LOVES being scared.

The Dolphins flipped through their show

We got to see the Shamu show up close

So exciting they are, the shark encounter was seen twice

A final rub of the belly to say thanks

So, over the last week we had a visit from some long, lost friends. Finding some time off of work in the schedule, Amy and Maddy travelled from Nashville back down to the Florida sunshine. It has been a while and the kids have grown ... just a bit ... so it was great to be able to see them again.

Picking right up where we left off

We played for almost a week, with time at the beach, at Myakka, at the pool, and of course Settimis.

Catching a movie

The whole time Joe and Maddy were attached at the hip ... having a great time. running, hiding, playing tag or hockey ... really it didn't matter what, they both had smiles on their faces.

Playing in Owen's bed

We are going to have to do this all again soon ...

Oout 'n Aboot in a bout

April 21, 2008

The cat wife came back ... she just wouldn't couldn't stay away! Probably a good things as the kids want to eat something other than hotdogs and KD.

Turns out she had a lot fun as she left us fending for crumbs (sure the cupboards were full, but who was going to cook it!!!!). She instead was relaxing by the poolside, soaking in sunshine, and partying up a storm.

While Ingrid swam, Melissa scratched the bellies

So ... Melissa has left us. She is finally getting a much deserved break from us crazy kids ... only trouble is ... she left us crazy kids alone!!!!

Hope she is having a great time ... as we kids sure are :)

Owen Walks

April 14, 2008

So, this past week Owen finally took his three steps and made them more.

He now is up and roaming, and enjoying every minute of it. He has also, at some point, also migrated to drinking fine from a straw. Tonight at dinner he drank all of Joe's milk - from Joe's cup - without a problem. Guess we are done with mommy, bottles, and crawling ... all at the same time then eh!!!

Depot Days

April 5, 2008

So, being the first Saturday of the month it was time for Joe and I to see if we could catch some time at the big boys toy store. This month we were tasked with putting together a planter box. A perfect present for mom ... if only she could keep the plants alive.

Add two plants and Joe's little masterpiece turned out ... well ... like a masterpiece. He did the hammering, he picked the plants ... and he, well, he wants to go back to make more :)

President Abraham Lincoln

So, I am in the state capital of Illinois. And I am extremely sad to say I am not going to get a chance to see the Presidential Library of Abraham Lincoln ... which I am told is one of the best. Guess I am just going to have to find my way back.

Tomorrow I find myself on the way home ... miss the family, but it is fun to get out and see new places and meet new people.
