Santa cometh

December 30, 2008

Well, as you all see, there is a slightly newer look to the site. Over the last few days I have squeezed in a couple hours and a late night to adjust the layout and fix the comment section. Yea ... that only took about 6 months. I have noticed one thing though, with the comments you quickly start to see when your falling behind in posting. So ... time to catch up ...

Christmas was upon us a few days ago ... we arose pleasantly from our beds in the morning - no seriously - Joe was up but stayed upstairs and mostly quiet while we got up.

Upon arriving downstairs the boys noticed that the cookies and milk left for Santa were almost gone. With that came the stockings ... one interesting find was that both boys were very content with just the first thing they found in the stocking. It actually took coaxing to move them along ... but we finally made it to breakfast. Waffles ... yummm ... which Melissa had prep'd the night before. We were joined by our neighbour Pam who also cooked us dinner that night ... thanks again Pam!

Then it was back to the tree for an array of gifts. The complete Bond set for Dad ... wooden train for Owen ... a big plane for Joe ... and a neckless for Mom ... not to mention the remote control cars, a front-end loader, an art easel, and so much more.

And to top off a perfect day we got to enjoy some time with Nana, Papa and Grandma H. As my mother states, things have come a long way in the years Grandma has seen.

Naughty or Nice?

December 25, 2008

So, it is Christmas eve. The kids are tucked into bed, the presents laid out under the tree. Milk and cookies have been placed for Santa; carrots for the reindeer. In all it has been a busy day and now it is time for a rest. Skating just seemed to be a needed return to tradition for this winter holiday, after which it was off to grabbing some last minute gifts before heading to a candlelight service in the evening. Then one gift each was passed around before we finished preparing for santa and getting ready for breakfast tomorrow.

Not to ignore a true tradition of our family ... Owen decided that just before bed he would toss his cookies all over mom. Gee thanks Owen!

We are so excited for tomorrow ... aren't you?

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Great job on the blog, the great pics and of course the dialogue!

I am so glad that Santa found your house! How could he resist those fabulous goodies for himself and Rudolf too!

Skating looks like such time I come down I would love to go with you.

Love you lots,

It was great spending time with you on Christmas morning. Grandma H was really blown away with the technology that allowed us to spend Christmas with you and yet be so far away. Wow! we've come a long way in her lifetime.
There was a big avalanche near Fernie. 8 snowmobilers were killed - all from the town of Sparwood just 15 minutes east of Fernie - all between the ages of 20 and 30 with young families. It is such a tragedy.
Have a Happy new year!

The letter

December 19, 2008

"Dear Santa, " ... that was how it started. Joe's first letter to Santa. Wishes for his brother, mom and dad, and of course ... a request for himself.

And into the mailbox it went...

Even with Santa busy with preparing for the upcoming big night he took the time to answer.

What a fun year this is as Joe has really taken to the holiday season. Even Owen seems to be grasping the holiday - though he is not so fond of Santa ;)

Just a side note for the historical time log. A few weeks ago Owen had asked to sit on the toilet - but nothing. Yesterday, Dec 18, 2008 ... Owen banged on the toilet. "Would you like to sit on the toilet?" ... "YUS" ... so Melissa put him on. He went. "All done?" ... shakes head. ... wait ... wait ... "All done?" ... shakes head. And then he went again ... this time #2!

FANTASTIC ... A big thanks to big brother Joe for doing such a good job of teaching.

Bath Time

December 5, 2008

So, while Melissa and I were picking up some cloths and Joe was taking a bath ... and Owen was ... ahhh. Yea, think you get the picture!
